the dole doesn't make one an expert.on the welfare state. Whatevs. Those of us
who work in care and welfare know what the coup is. People on benefits are the
ones who will suffer so let's see how that pans out when all dole claimants are
forced into minimum wage jobs so that the rich companies can continue to evade
taxes.

something needs to be done about the benefits culture in UK! It may not be

Sheffield was a 50-50 libdem/labour swing seat and middlesborough was a solid
labour seat. An established factory in middlesborough needed a 500k government
loan to stop it going bankrupt with the loss of 10s of thousands of jobs, they
were turned down. Sheffield was then offered 10 million pounds to open a new
factory to create less than a quarter of the jobs.And what happened? factory closed, thousands out of
work and they still returned Sir stuart bell with a 25% majority. Despite him not holding a constituency surgery
since 1997 yet paying his wife 35k a year to help run said non-happening
constituency surgery

make one a Labour lickspittle. I've never voted Labour in my life and I
regularly get flack for voting for Boris. All I was asserting was - as you have
- that if the government(s) weren't so happy to let Vodafone off something like
£4bn we'd likely have enough money in the coffers. Pointless illegal wars are
something I could get my rant on about but I won't. Suffice it to say you're
not the only one who has had family members at risk because of unjust
government decisions. I also have family members, friends and clients who
depend on the welfare state because they are genuinely disabled or needy. So

I was quite clear when I said that the welfare state SHOULD support the needy
and nothing the coalition has done has changed that. what DOES need doing
taking it away from those who are using it as a free ride and we could both
name and shame many people whop claim it when they don't need it. you made a

is not happening and you've not given any examples

that torys only hit soft targets is wrong and is a myth that allows labour to
feed the rich like vodafone and the middle class with things like the scrappage

needy, why did over a thousand people die last year after being judged to be
fit for work? Again, I work for social services and I've had to deal with the
effects of cuts not just to benefits but to the social services budgets and the
effects of the recession on the elderly. This isn't a Tory vs Labour thing, its
something that all recent governments have perpetrated. I will not take
lectures from you or anyone when I see what's happening every day with my own
eyes.

cuts are bad, they will cause deaths in the NHS due to lack of medicine,
increased crime because of lack of police, more deaths in army due to lack of
equipment.
these cuts are because we are spending more than
we receive in taxes (And I did say I was offended by vodafone being let off)
Because of this the country borrows money that it has to pay interest on and
the interest makes the amount of spending of the next year higher so the
country has to borrow more in year 2 pay of the interest from year 1, so in
year 3 we have to borrow enough to cover the surpless spending and the interest
in year 1 and year 2, then in year 4................... ad infinitum
As a country boy I now that you grow what you
can in the summer to see you through the winter. in economics there are booms
and recessions. the idea is that during the boom you put away money and buy
gold when its cheap, so that during the recession you can SPEND the money
you've saved and if thats not enough you can sell the gold that you bought
cheap because the price of gold rises in recession and you then spend that.
What has happened is that AN UNNAMED party didn't save during the boom, in fact
over-spent and started racking up debt and sold the gold at it's lowest value.
During a recession there should NEVER be cuts,
and certainly not to poor ppeople and public services, these cuts will prolong
the recession longer that it needs be. We should be doing what Ed Balls says
and spend spend spend to stimulate the economy! However, there is no money and
the rate of interest owed is something like 20 grand a day! By saying Oh look,
nasty torys you are missing the point that Labour would be making these cuts if
they won the last election and it's them that are CELEBRATING the damage caused
by them

Mirror made of the department. I'm not saying they died coz they were asked to
work, the point is they were that sick or disabled it was fatal and they were
still found fit for work!
Dave Waller ATOS are corrupt at worst. Severely incapable
and abhorrent at best. Implemented by Labour. Sanctioned to carry on by
Conservative. The system for assessing the disabled and sick for benefits is
flawed. It is aimed at cutting the deficit on behalf of the government. That is
simply wrong in my humble opinion.
I have no grudge to bear here. I have an opinion on both
parties. I don't feel I don't have to justify it either. The world is all about
opinions and everyone is entitled to their own......
By the way Oxford looked decent at the start of
the season, but you rely far too much on Constable and have gone off the boil a

ATOS deserved to be prosecuted. I agree with dave that it does need over
hauling but stand by the idea that it needs doing. preferably by someone that
more than half a brain cell
